True enough with stocks, but it does not apply to any of
the spdrs, (xl?'s )& DIA , MDY , SPY or QQQ.. with them there is no downtick rule and I almost never short a stock.

Most all my long stock positions are in my IRA , and I can't
short in it any way, there I do covered calls.
In my regular account I do mostly Call spreads and timing
on indexes.
Ox already knows that..( in most cases now days I have to tell the broker what I can or can't do )
