Edwarda,
From how you have explained your concept of a "flash of hatred", I can easily see that there is either a generation gap or some sort of society gap. When something happens, or is about to happen, that really gets my goat, I call it anger and you call it hatred. To me, which is not indicative of today's idea of the word, hatred toward a pesky chore, or being cut off on the freeway, would be something we called ticked-off, angry, or a more colorful word, but not serious enough to engender hatred. I think it has been established that we view the word hate, in all it's forms, differently because of what we have become accustomed to. (I think that's a dangling participle, or something but what the heck.)

I would readily say that I hated what the Nazi's did in the concentration camps, and had I had the opportunity, would have killed as many of the perpetrators as I could get my sights on. So, it has always been a word of a different color, than it is to you, at the time, or where, I grew up, than it is to you. Now that the understanding of this difference, I no longer see any problem. ~H~

What that induces in me is actually a strong reflex of sympathy. If lust doesn't build in within a very few minutes, that's really pretty sad.
...Or it's really lousy porn?
