Damn true, David!

My personal account is not in the green. OK? So I hear you. But there's still a lot of cash on the sidelines and speculators will always exist in this country as long as we have a gambling culture. That culture is deepening here in the U.S. with the continued and growing popularity of state-run lotteries, for example. We live in a "get-rich-quick," "I want to quit my job," "I want to retire early" society.

I realize and have told many of my friends that many of the "haircuts" of the past few months have been more severe than that. The only question has been the quality of the guillotine. Don't think for a second that I believe that this Porch is populated by a stack of millionaires/quillionaires/jillionaires. I'm not! The vast majority of us are not! Most of us are really pretty ordinary people. I talk to a number of my Porch cronies on the phone rather regularly. They're normal. Somewhat eccentric. But normal. Damn nice people too. All of them have been hurt and they tell me about it with their crazy regional accents. We're going to party in Atlanta. I love them all.

Just porchin'
John
