Not what I initially thought it was about This is a perfect example of what I have always believed about this method of communication.

Which just goes to prove my point that, what we think about others based on what they write here is quite often false.

We attribute characteristics to others based on our own life experiences and narrow preceptions! So that person isn't real, but just a composite of our own preconceived ideas, a hodgepodge of glimpses, like some mismatched quilt we have created without a true plan or design and what we are left with is a confused mess without true form and beauty.

Just musing..I, also, had this sinking feeling when reading crow's poem, that maybe I had missed something or another alias from someone who "thought" they knew me..I'm glad that it meant nothing more than a pragmatic discourse on the commercialism of publishing poetry..<gg>

Which just proves how mistaken we can be at times and it would be well to rethink our beliefs about others based on anything we read here!!!

HaHa-yes I knew I had better clarify it-
wrote it after a rather twisted and spirited conversation
of solicitations for readings- those 10.00+ 'always' read/"never" published canned response mailers and $5 words
that didn't help<--- cost of improvement and classes. Not really about me, I haven't written anything to pay someone to read, much less the other way around. Something that is love turned into an act. That's where it began. The writing turned into something for the act and not for the love.

Here's a poem from Nikki Giovanni for couples in love. (180 degrees from the former and has nothing to do with books) A kindness shared, stuff you would leave on a breakfast table with a flower.

A Poem of Friendship
Nikki Giovanni

We are not lovers
because of the love
we make
but the love
we have

We are not friends
because of the laughs
we spend
but the tears
we save

I don't want to be near you
for the thoughts we share
but the words we never have
to speak

I will never miss you
because of what we do
but what we are
together
