No problem? What problem? Remember, it is what the company says and does that counts. In just a scant few weeks the shares of EMC will split two for one. This is significant. Why?

When an upstanding company decides to split their shares, it should tell you something. It tells me everything! Number one, the company knows that top line growth (sales, EBITDA) is phenomenal, and two: perhaps they have their sites set on an acquisition or two, that can be paid for by using stock as currency.

Growth by acquisition is better than growth organically if there is a patent or technology or market that fills a deficiency in the company. I cannot state what the deficiency is today at EMC. If anybody knows, please tell me.

Bottom line, this IBM parts shortage "smokescreen" represents a buying opportunity. I know that post split there will be many investors who now do not own EMC, will snap up share of this great storage technology company.

Also, more and more storage will be needed as we go into the high speed broadband and wireless phase of the Internet.

I still say that ASP's will be one of the biggest areas for companies like EMC and SUNW to "cash in".
