Yes, I have... Actually, I paddled my canoe up onto one about 2 years ago... it's in the middle of a small, secluded section of river not too far from where I live. Maggie (my collie) and I got out onto it... It was a very strange little thing... kind of an oozing "delta" with long grass all over it...it even had a few small trees growing up out of it. You had to watch out when you were walking on it and move from clump to clump of grass or you'd fall right through it into the water underneath. As we were getting back into the canoe, Maggie sank head first through a hole in the grass and I had to grab her by her hair and haul her upwards out of it or she probably would have gone underneath... Kind of a neat thing though... Basically an ecosystem of its own...

BTW, I've photographed a lot uprooted tree roots and sunken logs that are decomposing and turning into small islands... microcosms... I just love to paddle up to those to see what's growing on them... Each one is like a small world of its own...
