is this really backing up? i'm confused. how is anything current being restored?

you said, "when working on basic network machines, blowing away the OS and re-installing from backup is often faster, and less tedious than an anti-virus sweep", so i figured that there are some kind of incremental saves being done.

forgive me, i'm sure it's my lack of knowledge. but i enjoy the topic, so i must ask...
