And I've gone one step further. SOME posters rarely post news from mainstream media- and thus I can feel comfortable skipping any URLS they may post in the sure and certain knowledge that they will only be ideological harangues.

I do the same thing, and I have to admit I was forewarned when there was a big link to the John Birch Society on the home page of The New American.

One of the reasons I'm enjoying the posts here has been because so many of the people are not American. What non-US sources would you suggest as good ones for straightforward coverage of the events in the US?

By the way---- GO STARS!!!

That's generally the path quite a few people take with regard to information which doesn't fit their preconceived assumptions. If they can't discredit the information. Then discredit the source.

I prefer to read all sides of an issue and come to my own independent conclusion based on what strikes me as being closer to the truth. Besides, how can you tell for sure something is written on the web from a particular country? Writers can live in all sorts of places today and work for all sorts of companies via the web.

Although I also enjoy foreign sites such as the Economists, they have no more lock on the truth than American ones if you ask me. That's simply stereotyping.
