There's another post on the WSO thread over in Germany citing an article in a daily newspaper published in Dresden on 05/24/00 (Saechsische Zeitung Dresden):

[I translate that into English but quote the German original for your own verification]

"Dresden. American chip maker AMD will bring Athlon CPUs built in Dresden to the market for the first time.

Upon request from SZ, AMD spokesman Jens Drews said: "We will introduce on June, 5th in Dresden a new product and will further disclose an important announcement."

Production is running since December in this most modern chip plant world-wide. Meanwhile final tests have been finished with surprising good results. These new microprocessors work by far faster by the use of the new copper technology. (SZ/ts)"

Dresden:
Chip-Premiere bei AMD am 5.Juni

Dresden.
(SZ/sts)"

I visited the web site of this newspaper in order to validate the source but unfortunately they don't have online access to their archive.

Hans,

Thanks for the update. I don't know how the German board works but it is possible that all three of those posters are the same guy.

Pravin.

All those rumors...

insbruck's 1.5 Ghz rumors seems to be confirmed by two
other sources on the same thread: Stockland and Shangri.
The last one has a friend over at AMD Dresden. He confirms
the 70% yield.

Hans,

Hmmmmmm......I wonder what part of all these rumors is the truth?!!
