<brownouts this summer IMO will be in California, the Pacific Northwest, and then the Southeast>

The Orange County Register had a front page article on electricity generation in California. The gist was that although the population has gained an average of 600,000 souls per year, no additional capacity has been added for 7 years.

Earlier this month there was a brief heat wave around the Sacramento area and there were several brownouts. In the past California could import power from the neighboring states, but now they are having their owns problems, making this supply unavailable.

New generating capacity is due to come on line next year. I assume it will be NG fired.
