I forgot one of the major "couch words." I can't believe it. This is a weird one. Well, I'm not sure if weird is a good word here; I think I would have to dip into the adjective cup; but all I see in there is a paper clip.

"Davenport"

Memorial Day began in 1968 as Decoration Day. It was a day set aside to commemorate the Civil War dead, to decorate their graves. Over the years it has evolved into a day to remember all U.S. men and women killed or missing in action in all wars.

For some people it still has meaning. For others it is just a holiday and a backyard barbeque.

We celebrate Memorial Day by going to the outdoor pool, which opens the Saturday before Memorial day. There is one only four blocks from our new house, and the kids went swimming Saturday and Sunday, but spent the night at Grandmother's. I think they are going to see a movie, maybe Gladiator or Shanghai Noon.

I spent the weekend reading medical records in a potential wrongful death case, and doing research on the Internet. I had been dreading it because the person who died was a 12-year-old boy, but finally forced myself to do it, and then got fascinated by it, because the case involves a runaway immune system, and I have that, myself.

After he took the boys to Grandmother's, Chris kept trying to get me to quit for the night, and have wine and cheese and listen to music.

I finally stopped working around midnight, and then saw that Bravo was having a "Twin Peaks" marathon, so Chris and I watched that all night, I crashed at 3:00 a.m., and Chris at 4:00 a.m. So we slept late, and when I got up, I started working on the case again. I'm not really a workaholic, I just keep odd hours. It's hard for me to concentrate at the office, I like to strip my bed down to the bottom sheet, and use that as my "desk." Every other flat surface in the house is already stacked with books, magazines, newspapers, and projects, except for the dining room table, but that is in constant use. I pull my chair up to the bedside, and close my bedroom door.

Most people go shopping, I think, it's a great weekend for sales. And the Viet Nam vets will all ride motorcycles to the Viet Nam Memorial near the Capitol, they call it Rolling Thunder.
