what method do you use to determine "unusual" volume? Some people have mentioned services such as McMillian. Do you subscribe to such a service? How much could one expect to pay for that service? I have been doing it manually. This is very tedious and does not offer many opportunities because, I can only follow a limited number of companies with such high level scrutinity. Events which effect the value of a compact in a material manner do not happen frequently, so there are few opportunities to take advantage of such anomolous observations, given the limited number of closely inspected derivative products I follow.

For an example of what I've mentioned, with regard to "insider" activity being evident through the options market, take a look at the IFMX action today. The volume for the July 7 1/2 was 1065 (the OI is only 427) and the jan 15 volume is 720 contracts. To me, it looks like a large short position, via (possibly naked) calls sold foward, was closed out today. I consider this a bullish event, for which we will find out some positive news around the July timeframe.
