Do you, or anyone have a estimate of the total value of the Equity markets in the US. What percentage of M2 are US equities (I recognize they are not included in M2)? Is there a data source to look at this historically?

it's not right to include stock market capitalization as part of money. An attempt to convert even a small percentage of this capitalization to real money (e.g. by selling stocks) will result in a crash that will instantly reduce stock market capitalization to a small fraction of its former self. That's why stock market manias do not coincide nor are they followed by inflation -- at least in this century.
