Did you get a look at Nokia's handset margins from the last quarter? That was mainly from cheapie phones without mobile data features. And you are arguing that the addition of new features like Bluetooth, GPRS and positioning software is going to *lower* the margins? Hello - is this some new trend in tech manufacturing that only you can forecast?

Those W-CDMA phones will have to be dual-mode models compatible with existing GSM and GPRS infrastructure. You probably should visit some country outside of North America one day and check out how well Samsung, Audiovox and LG are doing in GSM markets.

The point about IPR is that Nokia does not need it. Get it? If you are a good manufacturer you do not need to rely on licensing income. If you are not a good manufacturer, it makes sense to jack up the IPR fees and hope for the best.
