Orion, I have no doubt that the component supply issue is sector wide. Just listen to the news and it becomes apparent that, as Intel put it, the shortage is real and it could last up to a year. I expect that supply will be ramping up as quickly as possible to capitalize on the supply squeeze and robust pricing.
The dumping of excess supply by competitors should impact the other players in this specific part of the industry, Nvidia included. I don't see ATY rebounding significantly for a considerable period of time. However, I do expect to see improved financials starting with the next quarter. I'm not in a panic about what I see as a temporary glitch in the operation of the company.
Regards,
Ed

Don't you think the issues reported by ATI, if true (no reason to doubt so far), will also be affecting Nvidia this
qtr?

Nvidia supplies only graphics chips not boards. Board makers that use Nvidia chips may see component shortage first (capacitors). Another difference might be that Nvidia = higher end and perhaps has proportionately more tier 1 sales. Tier 1 box makers have surer supplies of CPU's.
