Placer Dome Inc. shareholders are urging the No. 5 gold producer to consider ways to boost its share price, possibly through a sale of the company, after the stock lost half its value in a year.

``I'm not happy with the share price,'' said Joe Foster, a fund manager with New York-based Van Eck Associates. He helps manage a $115 million gold fund that contains Placer Dome shares. ``If the company does some sort of a deal that makes sense for shareholders and that adds value then we'll take a look at it.''
