The Last Mile thread has volumes of posts on the coax to fiber subject. I think the path is clear but the cable companies can't see past the income statement. To be fair I don't think an executive would survive long if he/she pursued an aggressive FTTH upgrade. We're talking lots of billions, right? Many many many billions of capex. Anyway FTTH must happen gradually, quickly but not at all is not an option.

In the absence of FTTH ATHM can engineer the private network to deliver the services I mentioned. They don't have anything else at the moment. They can take advantage of a superior ability to deliver content to the ATHM subs. There are many issues with node splits, caching and backbone growth but at least ATHM has invested in a pretty good network so far.

Are you and Ah hot on some new technology now that SR has went TU?.

<There are other technology selection areas, but I wont get into them at this time until I've read more upstream material first.>
