Unicom also needs CDMA for spectrum efficiency, roaming to Japan, Korea, USA, Australia, New Zealand etc, etc. GSM just won't do it. On Private Capital Management selling a lot of stock, with all due respect to Gregg Powers, I think they really don't understand the magnitude of the importance of mobile communication and remote fixed communication [such as Globalstar's fixed data and voice prospects]. Or maybe they just figured that the price had gone too far, too soon and they were right. They can buy back in now at $70 a share! Also, they were limited on the proportion they could hold to avoid excess exposure to a single company. They had pretty amazing gains, so they might as well take those. "Why would anyone want this WWeb thing anyway?" It is little to do with news, airline schedules, weather etc, etc which people seem to use as examples. Humans are visual and voice processors so they can intelligently integrate with their mobile, ever-changing, 3D world - intensely social beasts with constant need to communicate, see, know and decide what to do next. WWeb is going to become our eyes and ears. Not many people prefer to be sightless AND deaf. Being without WWeb will render people deaf, dumb and blind. Not a winning combination. Add to that the knowledge base in the Web compared with our own memory banks. Without WWeb, people will be limited to what they can see [to the horizon if it's a clear day with no obstructions] and what they hear people say within 100 metres or so. They will know only what they carry in their absurdly tiny little brains. They will NOT know whether to turn left or right at the next junction. They will NOT be able to find vacant accommodation, a tire repair place, tow-truck, McDonalds or know much of anything at all. Mqurice PS: Don't be surprised if Private Capital Management has loaded up on Globalstar! I have no idea at all that they are doing so and that is a totally speculative suggestion, but knowing the background that they have in Q! and understanding of the technology, it would not surprise me at all to find they have gobbled up a VERY large chunk of G! The time to make BIG money is to buy when despair is around and there is HEAPS of that surrounding G! Of course, buying when there is despair in the case of company about to go broke is the way to LOSE all your money [such as Iridium]. Mqurice
