Tom doesn't like Rambus because, right or wrong, he thinks it's a fraud. He's a journalist of sorts, and "wins" if he can expose the truth before others figure it out.

It doesn't matter what Tom thinks. What matters is what Intel along with DELL, Compaq, HWP, and other box makers think. They are the ones that are marketing and selling what the buyer is asking for. Tom is just another short monkey rattling the cage for attention. I don't think he'll get it this time. People are wising up to him.

Samsung is the leading producer of rambus chips, it "wins" if it can convince people to pay a lot of money for the chips it produces.

Samsung wins regardless. They just go with the flow of demand. The more demand for Rambus the more they produce. If there is no demand then they produce something else.

You might want to reconsider your conclusion that samsung is impartial and Tom isn't.

What's to reconsider... my conclusions were made a long, long time ago.

Dan,

You might want to reconsider your conclusion that samsung is impartial and Tom isn't.

Samsung is offering DDR parts as well. They've said they don't care who wins. Tom, on the other hand, in his most recent diatribe, stated specifically that he has a strong dislike of Rambus:

I think it's nowadays pretty obvious to all of our readers that we at Tom's Hardware have got a very strong aversion to Rambus Inc. and RDRAM.

Dave

p.s. One thing he is not is a "journalist".
