That didn't come up on my search; we must have used different strings. Pretty much the same story, with a different emphasis,and doubtless a bit of self-service in both cases.

I have for years heard rumours that there was a "Cuban Mafia" in Miami that maintained mob connections that they developed during the Batista years, and which laundered money for the Contras and other right-wing groups in Latin America, money coming from drugs and from other sources as well. There are also rumours that drug money with no political connection has been laundered.

All almost impossible to verify, of course, and open to political interpretation from both sides of the fence. It is pretty well known, though, that Miami-based Cubans and the Argentine junta were involved with the Contras and with "death squads" in other countries, and that drug money was used to subsidize these operations.

Hard to say if there is fire there, but the smoke is relatively abundant.
