Carl, you missed my point. ECC is not supposed to be used as a mask for unstable electricals. Rather, ECC is supposed to raise the level of reliability from "very" to "extremely." And "extremely reliable" is desired for servers and high-end workstations. Since most of the RDRAM sold today is going into high-end workstations, most of the RDRAM will also feature ECC.

If ECC were used as a mask for EMI problems, then the reliability of RDRAM would drop from workstation level to desktop level. And that would be unacceptable for customers who desire high RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability).
