Who needs several years, Mike? Personally, I would never 'buy and hold" shorts. I prefer to get in and out as fast as possible. My feeling is that this market turmoil will continue for a while yet, and that more stocks will be going down than will be going up. Now, I could probably short my own stocks(my longs) and do just as well or better in the next few weeks than I would by shorting SIRI, say, but I am attached to my longs; they are truly solid companies, every last one of them. So if most of my truly solid companies have been going down, why shouldn't a speculative stock like SIRI continue to fall as well?

Did you ever read the Motley Fool expose' of SIRI, and the responses thereto? If not,you might want to check it out:

How very odd, Mike. My response to your post (#5242) appears on the thread without the lead sentence to click on. So I will repost it, in case you missed it.
