Note that KT Freetel started the month with 4.6m subs....this is likely their strongest month ever.

KT Freetel gets 5 million subscribers
Korea Telecom Freetel yesterday became the first PCS operator to pass the 5 million subscriber mark.

The company which has been in operation for two years and eight months said it has grown at a pace unheard of anywhere else.

The record outstrips the company's projection of 5 million subscribers by August with the target for this year set at 5.35 million, according to the company.

"We will be able to easily achieve our subscriber goal despite the slow-down in new subscribers expected with the elimination of handset subsidies which goes into effect next month," a company spokesperson said.

The optimism is based on the strong performance of the newly launched brand Na, that attracted 100,000 members just 10 days after launch.

"The company will now concentrate on increasing the number of mobile data service users, from the current 400,000 to about 1.8 million by the end of the year," he said.
