This rescheduled IPO for Divine may actually wind up being a true test of the Internet Venture Capital Market. My primary interest has always been as an investor in the real first Internet Zaibatsu, Softbank. I was originally amused at Flip calling Divine Interventures the first internet zaibatsu. It was hard to take Flip seriously at first, but after getting beyond his hype, I concluded that there was some substance there and he had a chance to succeed with his original IPO for DVIN, but fate intervened and the high tech internet market collapsed. If Flip had been a couple of months earlier, he would have been hailed as a hero and a visionary and he would have had a ton of money in his coffers. Now he will have to work and do the selling job of his life. His IPO is a crapshoot at this point. I look forward to watching from the sidelines. I wish him success, but I am not betting on it...
