re: Moore & JDSU

Good recap Tony.

This has come up on this board before, and in fact, you questioned it when it did!

Hey, at least I'm consistent. <g> Thanx for the reminder, as I did not remember.

In the first 2 articles, Moore is quoted out of context or the 3rd-hand authors extrapolate JDSU from Moore's thoughts, and never directly quote Moore. In the list-serve on the GG, Moore talks about P/V, but does not directly state JDSU is a gorilla.

BUT, in the article, Moore is clearly quoted as referring to Qcom and JDSU as "category leaders, the gorillas". I think this is the FIRST time he comes this close to calling JDSU a gorilla. But even here, there is room for doubt, since a "category leader" also describes a King. It is still possible that he is thinking about both gorillas and kings when he says "category leaders, the gorillas".

Nowhere do we see a rationale by Moore or the authors of the articles you reference for why JDSU could be a gorilla, and not just a king.
