I would personally like to thank everyone on this thread for all the great information. I became a first time QCOM holder today at $63 1/2 and probably would have been scared off if not all the great posts on QCOM and its potential. For the record my nomination for the gorilla watch is KOPN, which may have all ready been mentioned, but after listening to the last shareholders meeting I am convinced this one has Gorilla potential with all its patents pending. Here are some notes that were takin from the shareholders meeting! 1.Fan talked about ability to make products scalable...to marry technology with manufacturing. Essential for rapid expansion capacity. This is being executed daily as we speak. 2.Gallium business is great...technology is disruptive for Cyberdisplay as well. Stressed importance of reliability and uniformity for manufacturing. Emphasis from the technology to the manufacturing end. 3.Next generation 3-D phones still upcoming...about 1yr for Japan. KOPN wants to be the display. Fan said if Japan wants a small screen we will be there ready to roll. 4.6" wafer technology very complex...good luck to competitors who try and replicate. Perhaps RFMD is having trouble with theirs. They use atomic, versus Kopin using chemical. KOPN supplies GA to CNXT, Mitsubishi, ANAD, Alpha, and Triquint. 5.OC-192...Nortel doing very well. In summary new customers and new applications for GA upcoming. Also working with InGap and digital transmissive circuits. 6.Fan spoke of Cyberdisplay as potentially part of our technology history. Began with CRT (television to AMLCD, laptop screen, 1990) to the mobile cyberdisplay, 1999. This Technology is DISPRUPTIVE....it represents a fundamental change in screens. It may have HISTORIC significance worldwide. 7.Wireless broadband is coming, but not yet. In the meantime the immediate focus thru 2000 is the camcorder for cyberdisplay. They already have JVC as a repeat customer and Matsushita (Panasonic). Others out there.....SONY, Canon, and Samsung. My opinion....I think they have SONY but cannot announce. Just a strong hunch. 8. Absolutely HUGE HUGE that Japanese company would look to an American company. Fan said, "they must do it". KOPN disruptive technology is so superior that they simply had to go with us. Also, Fan and Co have familiarity with Asain business customs and also the MIT allure. VERY IMPRESSIVE MILESTONE. 9.Japan is EXCRUCIATINGLY PICKY about their product. To continue to pass quality control for them is excellent. Establishing major socket wins will ensure long standing relationships here. 10. Machinery from Germany working beautifully to automate cyberdisplay. Doubling every 6 months with full capacity at Westwood to top at 1 million/month. Also work with plant in Taiwan,Unipac. Machinery ensures optical allignment and environmental seal in place.
