The only posts I find offensive are those who blame the loser for being stupid for trusting after they have been moved to believe in somebody.

As for reporting to SI, I think there are some of us who learned in childhood to fight our own battles.

Although generally I agree, I think there are several well-known posters who continually use manipulative tactics and intimidation. I really believe many are afraid of reporting, particularly when the threats escalate to the point of exposure of real names, etc. I believe that the administrator(s) should follow up here even if the target of the threat does not. These things are so open and notorious and the posters so well-known that it wouldn't take a great deal of effort to clean up if the will were there.

It's the difference between a clear set of laws and cops on the beat watching out for people, and just saying "Call me if someone robs you at the ATM when you are getting cash." Lots more crime in the second scenario.

Many SI posters will take all the rope you give them and then some. That puts SI admin in the position of trying to clean up a big mess instead of just preventing them in the first place.

If there are certain words deemed vulgar or linked to personal attacks, SI is within their rights as a private site to restrict them. That's what bots are very good at detecting. And include the deliberate misspellings (sheet, shyte, etc.) if they are clearly being used to abuse others.

Otherwise, they shouldn't pretend to have high-falutin' standards that are only enforced sporadically, if at all.

Community sites get to enforce community standards. That is pretty well established in the US.
