jhg:

Is now a good entry point for MU.

I presume from your question that you are looking to buy and hold for a few months, if not years. I personally would not recommend this time as an entry point for MU on that kind of a horizon.

Now may well be a good entry point if you plan to take profits next week, but it would be a very high risk play, as the chances of an up move at this time are nearly equal to the chances for a down move, in my opinion.

In my opinion it is virtually certain that in the coming weeks you will have the opportunity to buy Micron significantly lower than today. I hesitate to suggest how much lower, or which weeks. The week following the earnings report often shows a decline. That may be particularly true this time around, although who knows, since the bar has been steadily and gradually lowered since the last earnings report.

Micron is always a highly volatile stock and is better suited to short trading plays, in my opinion. There are better buy and hold stories out there if that's what you are looking for, although this might be a poor time to make a long-term entry in any stock (I think it is).

Is it a better buy than INTC?

In my opinion, INTC will be trading under 100 within two weeks (more likely sooner than later). Micron may actually perform better than that over the same period.

Hal would buy MU at 48 15/16 today only.
But Hal says we will probability not see 48 15/16 today.
