Jim,

Any company in their right mind wouldn't move to Silicon Valley.

New companies start every day in silicon valley. There are not many places in the world where you can gather the talent to design a microprocessor.

Jimmy,

re:"Any company in their right mind wouldn't move to Silicon Valley. Some will likely leave. This would damper real estate prices. It will happen..."

Get serious:

1. My synthesis has a bug...talk to synposys and visit them in mountain view if major problems.

2. My chip doesn't layout ...drive over to Avanti in fremont.

3. I need to check my layout data at the mask vendor....drive over and view the fractured data at Photronics or DuPont etc.

4. My foundry vendor is late....go beat up TSMC/UMC/CSM in san jose.

5. OOOOPs the wafers are back from taiwan .....package some parts in a DAY....drive over to Pantronix or IPAC in milpitas.

6. The packaged parts are picked up at 6pm. Lets drive over to MDT in sunnyave and test em tonight.

7. Oh NO...we have a BUG!!!

8. PANIC we drive over to have the parts FIBBED.

9. Damn its the PLL, lets talk to my buddy at Cypress thats a PLL expert...I'll buy him a beer as he owes me a favor.....

And so on.

Try doing that in Florida.....

regards,

Kash
