I wear the "pompous . . ." tag, and cavalierly ascribe it to others only in relative terms. Relative to the lurkers, who are legion, those of us who post regularly wear the "windbag . . ." shoe quite comfortably. And I, too, am glad we do. If we didn't post, this place would be far less interesting, and SI (or at least this thread) would sink under the weight of its own inertia.

When this place is humming with good dialogue, it is a salon of remarkable quality, and I appreciate everyone who positively contributes to that quality. That's why I've occasionally fought to preserve its integrity--it's worth the battle.

Well, thank you, X. I am so pleased that at least one person here is interested in what I have to say. ;>) (It's mutual, incidentally.) Alas, I have not had the time in recent months to say much. But I have lurked here from time to time. And alas again, the "discussions" have been of such a nature, that there never seemed to be anything I could say. Or anything of interest, at any rate.
