Western Digital
===========
* The company estimates its revenue mix in 2004 will be 50% HDDs, 20% NAS/networked storage and 30% consumer electronics/other.

It all seems good. But the comment about 2004 is amazing. I didn't think anyone even pretends to see that far into the future.

Thanks for the links.

Interesting tidbits:

Separately, John Gannon, President of Quantum's HDD group,
stated at an industry dinner we attended on May 25 that the disk drive supply/demand balance is still tenuous.

Ahh, could that be partly due to the a-little-bit-pregnant brand new factory that Quantum/MKE recently added in Singapore.

According to TrendFOCUS, Quantum leapt from 7.8% market share in enterprise drives in 4CQ99 to 13.2% share in 1CQ00

* Pricing on enterprise HDDs is saner than it has been in years

Hello? If Quantum hasn't made a dime on enterprise drives in the entire existence of its enterprise division and it doesn't supply IBM or EMC then it stands to follow that the increase of its enterprise market share from 7.8% to 13.2% is proof that Quantum has been the instigator of the price wars in the LOETHE (low end of the high end) segment and thus, has no credbiility to comment on the 'saner' pricing environment.

Lastly, it seems that the drive makers expect consumer electronics to account for a larger part of the mix. Interesting.
