James,

Two comments:

1- As the article says: "And investors figure to wait and see how that acquisition goes before letting the ratio inflate, because other deals have produced muted results. "Lucent has been plagued by an inability to assimilate acquisitions as cleanly as Cisco and Nortel have," says Nicoll. He adds that Lucent needs to train its salespeople to energetically push Chromatis gear, in conjunction with other Lucent goods, to make a deal pay off. "
Lucent has failed in execution so far. It's part of the old ATT culture that get's in the way.

2- If there is "1 billion for Chromatis" just think what CIENA may have in the cards which we are not accounting for now! I hope it's true!!!

Thanks James! I don't know how you do it but you always seem ready to cut and paste a good article.
