$Bill,

I am not a bear, just like to buy equities below fair value. <g> Where to put cash is another problem. I have some T-Bills, world government debt, US government money market funds, A teeny bit of investment grade US corporate bonds. You get the picture - real conservative.

I am making my money on leap credit spreads these days.

Joan

BuckBill, I am not mostly out of equities, though I am mostly into options. However, I hold cash to collateralize these holdings. My cash is generally in money funds that are either 100% T-Bills or government money funds that actually take delivery of collateral. The latter is very important. If it ever gets to be crunch time, it is important that you have the T-Bond collateral in your own vault when the big bank says, "heh, heh, can't pay back what you loaned us due to losses on derivatives and margin loans to idiots." Many supposedly govt. money funds do not take delivery on overnight repos. They make a couple of extra basis points in interest, but if the fit hits the shan, they'd better hope their lawyers are good and fast.

I'm into mostly beaten down stocks now, which are protected by about one half the amount of puts I had as insurance..... Just could not help taking profits on some of that put "insurance" late last week. If my infamous index can make it up to the zero line and stall out, I will probably by more puts, and if by some miracle the market can manage to make it all the way up to the maximum overbought level, I will add even more puts, and take profits in stocks where I can. It has been a very rough market lately, so I'm easily satisfied with making a few bucks here and there..... Yogi

$Bill:

Mostly playing the "mortally wounded" (bankruptcy) situations, but just beginning to do more short/puts of late. I think this bull's enthusiasm is on the wane.

The only longs are a few small junior golds with large proven reserves (currency insurance)

Best, Earlie
