but fundamentalism is a requirement for fanaticism (seems to me) and who can tell when the slide to fanaticism will take place? THe soil is fertile for it- I will always be opposed to that kind of soil. My husband suggests that the Bible is actually the work of Satan. That only Satan would tell man that knowledge is forbidden. He maintains in his argument that only a flawed being could engender a document as flawed as the Bible, which would provoke so many people to misconstrue it and to fight over it. There is no way to PROVE it is NOT the work of Satan any more than to prove it IS the word of God. And what a nasty trick it would be for a very evil being to get everyone to believe he was God. I found Mr X's new theory very entertaining. It probably isn't totally NEW- I'm sure other people have kicked around the idea- but I haven't read or been around those other people.
