Umm, you must have missed the trial. The key witnesses for the prosecution (other than MS employees and documents) were Microsoft *customers* (like Gateway). Other MS customers were interviewed by the Justice Dept but were too afraid to testify. Were you not aware of any of this? -JCJ

Jesus Christ......

>>A robber who has a product and majority of satisfied willing REPEAT customers who hand their money over to him most of the time? but must force a few to cough up by force!
The DOJ's case is not about robbery! It about high level jealousy and power hungry moguls -including Bill Gates who just happened to be suffering the fate of the top one.

Unfortunately we the consumers and investors are being used, exploited and cheated of our rights by the very people who we elect to protect them IMO.

Even if Jesus Christ were to head up Microsoft our Federal Government wouldn't be at a loss for examples of wrongdoing and abuse.

Corruption is simple: use the weakness of others to advance your cause or agenda by getting them over some barrell which is used against them in the future - ie. having them sign or do something they don't agree in principal which places them in position where "valueless" forces (usually money) are placed on a higher plane and in a way in which one's principals trust are abused or violated.

I'm not saying government is wrong with the facts that they have exhumed from this case. They have make a very strong point with TPJ and I believe there are strong grounds which justify breaking up Microsoft.

The current power/control BLOB structure of Microsoft is way out of touch from a bigger, longer term perspective.

Microsoft can't be all things to all people. They've done a masterful job leveraging their intensely customer focused guerilla marketing paradigm in pursuit of mind and marketshare dominance. They just cross too many lines during the process. And, yes, they pissed off too many people. They simply got caught, period. And they are now paying the price.

Contrary to what you may believe, INDIVIDUALS have massive, massive power in this New Age of Service. The net is a completely OPEN audit trail. It will expose everything to the light of day. We will all be forced to understand new perspectives and principals that call for truth, openness, trust, etc. And these principals actually will work to threaten the biggest monopoly of them all: Washington.

Stop playing the role of victim. Stop blaming the federal government. Take responsibility and ownership for what you can do to effect positive change.

I believe the process of splitting Microsoft up has alread begun where it matters most: in the mindshare of the marketplace.

Developers are voting with their time, trust and resources. IP is forcing everything to become ONE.

Peace.

GO!!
