I wouldn't recommend to an entrepreneur, an incubator at 40%, but to bootstrap with angels, then take the VC route. Incubator deal sizes tend to be $1MM, values at $3MM to $9MM (depending), so that's 25% to 10%, not 40%. Why can't a startup attract their own advisors, at a fraction of the cost? The market rates (per the best law firm in Silicon Valley) are 1/2% to 1% for celebrities.
