Also from the meeting:

The number of deployed proprietary modems is ~530K. That's
over half a million. As Pat mentioned, 982 ComCONTROLLERS
have been shipped and installed. That's approximately
544 modems per headend. Given that the system will handle
up to 2000 modems, but more typically 1000-1500, there's
a large potential cable modem sales growth (in my opinion)
as these system fill out with customers.

Their DOCSIS CMTS will be going into CableLabs this
summer to begin the qualification process. Note that it
is likely to take more than one round to get qualified.

They demonstrated their Voice over ATM product in
the meeting room. They had a PC connected to a cable
modem which was attached to their wireless test network.
Plugged into the back of the cable modem was a normal
everyday phone. The performance was excellent and toll
quality all the way. I was quite pleased. Also, the
PC was surfing the web just fine with no interference
with the phone. Note that the communications was
flowing between Com21 and a mountain top roughly five
miles away, then back into the data and phone networks!
