I look at situations like this as allowing for diversification. The same can be asked of the recent VRTX deal, IMO. I look at it as a subsidiary that would not otherwise exist.

Think of it as a David Robinson-like grab?? (but with just a tad more wisdom)

Still, you're correct -- it (my answer) does boil down to resource distribution and risk.

Strategy.... allows one to keep the strong currency, to maintain the cash balance..... to assure oneself of a future shopping spree?????

JT "will bear all research costs." Development costs will be split 50:50, but R&D is a freebie.
