Eric - Most of Amazon had been built with Compaq Alpha and StorageWorks. I can understand the move to industry standard servers - after all, Barnes and Noble, another Compaq account, built their whole system on NT at much lower cost - but the Alpha gear had been very reliable for Amazon so HP probably had to hustle to get the account. I would assume the remaining storage products would remain StorageWorks, since those, like EMC, are multi-vendor. HP does not have a good storage story and has been doing mostly 3rd party solutions for a while. I don't think SUNW had much of a play at Amazon either before or now, in revenue terms.
