Farmer Clappy

I gotta tell you, my veggie garden is doing gang busters this year.

It's cause it's been so cold and wet.

My young tender lettuce is growing faster than I can eat it.
(neighbours are happy)

termatas have blossoms

walla walla onions are doing real well - so's the beets.

and the peas will be ready for picking soon.

What can I tell you. Life is sure grand when you can go out to your back yard and bring in fixings for dinner.

I love it.

Clappy,

So-o-o-o glad you're back.

re: corn
Plant several rows rather than one long row. It will pollinate better that way. Corn does take up alot of space compared to the crop you get, but it's fun to grow it anyway.

My grandparents lived in Arkansas and grew vegetables on their 5 acre truck farm. They sold veggies to individuals and stores, too. My family would travel there on weekends to help work in the fields, pick crops, and help with canning and freezing for winter use. Some great memories... I remember working all morning hoeing the corn and when we'd come in for a break, grandpa had made fresh lemonade for us in a big metal washtub.

Sure missed ya,
