Sun certainly didn't want Java extended without their say. They say it's polluted because if it allows Windows specific capabilities, it isn't cross-platform. I am unaware of the specifics of the contract, however. It'll be interesting to see if the judge overseeing the Java case thinks MS violated the contract or not. I know MS has no plans to put their Java development tool (J++) into Visual Studio 7, but perhaps they would down the road if they win the lawsuit. We'll see...
