Brister, Rydex is a Mutual Fund Family that allows investors with minimum of 25K initial investment to go long or short the market based off the NDX 100 or SPX 500 Index.

Because the minimum is 25K it cuts out the little guy and therefore is a better barometer of the market of supposed "professional traders or investors" trying to time the market.

I utilize it as one source for my accounts; and as both a pulse and barometer of the market and as a contrary indicator of impending changes to come in the direction of the market indexes like NDX, SPX, XAU et al.

Rydex has many other subaccounts that mirror sector indexes like Banks, Biotech, Energy, Healthcare Transportation and even bonds. But for simplistic purposes for this thread, I have it simplified to NDX Long/Short, SPX Long/Short, Money Market and XAU from time to time.

The daily total assets I put up show the rotation where the money is going at close of each business day...

A contrary or impending contrary indicator...

Hope this helps..

Best Regards, J.T.
