Puck, The American actress Heddy Lamar filed the first CDMA related patents, which as you know only last so long. Otherwise, Heddy's estate would own 3G IPR. In all their glory, maybe ERICY should have proceeded to court. What gives? Kent

They were studying CDMA before Qualcomm was even a twinkle in Irwin Jacob's [sic] grandiose eye. ... > Yes, Ericsson invented CDMA back in 1890 and had to wait for silicon chips to be invented next century before they could implement it. Unfortunately, last year, Q! suddenly noticed it and somehow or other managed to get in first, despite Ericsson's amazing leadership in CDMA. Ericsson, scrambling to catch up on this thing they invented, bought Q! infrastructure manufacturing and signed up to pay royalties to Q!. Nokia admits they didn't invent it, but did have the sense to sign up for a Q! CDMA licence back in 1990 [maybe it was 1991]. Unfortunately, they didn't have the ability to produce good ASICs nor the sense to buy from Q! so have missed out so far.
