Ian, Comments were by Brad and Brian. Tone was very positive. I don't think there was anything new. Article focused on MTSN's # 1 position in the strip market and the very promising potential of the CVD market for MTSN. I will pull some details out of the article and report later today. Brian did say MTSN was looking to make an acquisition while trying to fend off being acquired. He said the latter might be a difficult task because the chip equipment industry is consolidating. Ian, welcome back> I saw the IBD article; it was kind of old news; basically, it discussed the emergence of mattson in cvd; and how the company is just getting started. The article stated that Samsung was the only Tier 1 company to buy the mattson cvd with a few lesser unnamed companies also buying; Im sure Tsmc and Tqnt feel real good about that categorization. Also what was really interesting to me, was the fact that Mr Matttson had a noncompete clause in his Nvls contract which did not allow the marketing of cvd systems till 94; the article did say that the aspen tool can turn out 180 wafers/hr vs 100 for its lessser competitors!<G> Also there is a nice pie chart that shows the bookings breakdown for q 1; in this, strip is 78%, while others (epi etc) is 8% and cvd is only a measly 14%
What the article does not state is that a short time ago, mattson bookings for cvd was ZERO,
so for me the article was a good summation of why mattson could be valued alot higher than it is; the article missed the point for people who dont know whats going on-- Gee only 14% !!!! Welcome back, steve
