Analog Devices and Aware Announce Availability of Voice Enabled DSL Chipsets Voice-enabled DSL (VeDSL) Allows Service Providers to Use ADSL to Bundle Multi-Line Voice and High-Speed Data Services For Consumers ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000-- Analog Devices, Inc. VeDSL is unique among proposed voice-over-DSL solutions in that it transports voice traffic over the copper loop within the ADSL data stream. As calls are placed or received, VeDSL dynamically allocates data bandwidth to support the second-line voice call or dial-up session. When the call is complete, the bandwidth can be reallocated to maximize Internet access speed. Because VeDSL avoids the use of ATM or IP to carry voice, the complexity associated with these protocols is eliminated, while reliable toll-quality voice is ensured. As a result, VeDSL technology is less expensive and easier to integrate into existing networks and management systems, yet versatile enough to work with evolving packetized networks. . Among the partners displaying Analog Devices solutions at this year's show are: 3COM, ADC, ADTRAN, Askey Computer Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc., ECI Telecom Inc., Efficient Networks, Inc., Ericsson, Hitachi Telecom Inc., Lucent Technologies, Newbridge Networks, Nokia, Nortel Networks, Samsung Telecommunications and Virata Corporation. Wow! is right! Justice at last. Not only are these customers of ADI, but they are demonstrating their products this week. That means they are not vapor ware. They at least have products close to manufacturing. And who is that last company. I don't know if I have ever heard of them:-) Our beloved Virata is using ADI. What sweet reward that statement is.
