Larry, That guy Hal... ...has become a mascot of The Thread, much like the pandas and the Freeman Dental Indicator. Hal brings color to the discussion. I have ridiculed Hal mostly out of jest in an attempt to get even with him for being so damn right about predicting our tumultuous period. As Zeev said earlier there is "investment risk" and "market risk". Well, "market risk" has been whopping our butts the last few weeks. Thanks for putting a face on "market risk" for us. Again, despite our fundamentally different approaches to investing, I remain optimistic about SanDisk's future. It is fun to post factual information whether on or off topic. It is fun to set conservative goals and enjoy having them exceeded (and whine when everything goes to hell). It is fun to try to draw logical conclusions from factual information, even if they are, at times, far-fetched. It's not all that bad being optimistic or even overly optimistic at times. (I don't mind people laughing at my pom-poms and saddle shoes. I don't mind people poking fun at me for "falling in love with the stock" or "holding forever".) Being long SanDisk doesn't require one to be smarter than fund managers or analysts that follow the stock. Being long SanDisk doesn't require you to be able to see around corners or predict upticks or downticks. Really the only thing that has bothered me during the last few weeks (in addition to the nauseating NASDAQ undulations) is why we need to attack each others investment strategies. It really doesn't get us much further ahead of the game. I took the last downturn as a time period to renew my wedding vows with SanDisk. That is the reason for my posts last night. Take them at face value. Finally, I do take exception to statements, such as were made today, that somebody's investment approaches are "ridiculous". Many on this Thread have contributed very useful information on a regular basis during the last several years. It is said that these "hard times" seems to bring the worst out in everyone, me included. I hope the usual level of civility here can be maintained. I am sure Hal is shaking his head right now wondering what we are bickering about. Ausdauer ("The guy behind the curtain.")
