Wiz, FWIW, There were about 50 people on the SNDK call according to my sources. ------------- Bidness BRKS revisited Earlier this week CSFB sponsored a bus trip in the valley to visit the SOX people like KLAC, etc. Tuesday nite they had a dinner and representatives of the firms presenting (the bus trip was to visit local firms but CSFB also had slots for east coast firms like BRKS to present their story) and the buysiders mixed up up for a little food and whine. Somebody that owned BRKS sat down at the BRKS table and asked the IR guy, not the CFO, "are you going to make the 45 cent number" and he the IR guy replied "no but we are comfortable with the consensus" which was 42 cents i think. This buyside guy's firm owned a boatload, rumored to be 1 million or so shares of what normally is a thin trader and they took the thing apart on wednesday heading for the exits. If you look at the holders list i doubt it was Kopp, that is not the way they do things, and there are several other large holders. Oppenheimer is listed as a pretty big holder and my theory is that Ken Tracey just cut and ran from the Enterprise Fund (-20% or so YTD after being down 35%+ and the bottom) to rejoin Berger and the people minding the fund maybe said "I have had it-every stock we own sucks" and then puked up BRKS big time. Needham is sponsoring a bus trip to Massachusetts in a week or two and will hit BRKS again. In any case there was a good trade there and I only mentioned it because TS.com had a piece early this morning trying to figure out what was going on and then Kernan and Faber were kicking the thing around this morning trying to figure it out too. i think the account above is essentially 95% accurate with the Oppenheimer part speculation on my part ------------------------ notbidness As far as the wine goes, the Silverado took top honors followed by the Philip Togni and then the Caynus Special Select. Personally I went with Togni, Dunn Howell Mountain and then the Forman. Overall it was a little disappointing with the Opus, Montelena and Beringer Private Reserve showing quite poorly. The Spottswoode was corked. I hate it when that happens. NotabaddaytogetoutofbedNeiderhoffer P.S. where is trader dave?--he is missing out on all the fun. Maybe he is now a Mr. mom?
