Chic,, Re..<<<<<AMD is not having them over to just say "hey, look at these 1 Ghz chips, they're copper!!!" AMD has to prove a point that Dresdan and copper are worth the money. A simple introduction of chips in the 700-1000 Mhz range is not going to get the job done. Willamette is a HUGE cloud over AMD right now. We need to show that we're going to be competitive in the future. The longer AMD waits to demo a 1.5 Ghz chip, the faster investors are going to get scared and dump AMD stock. <<<<<<

Chic, that is exactly my point. It also applies to the rumor from your place. I doubt that IBM'S engineers would have been that enthusiastic over just copper at 1 ghz. and that is why I asked.

<<<<I agree, there's no point in one-upping Intel and demoing a 1.7 or 1.8 Ghz chip. Matching them will be enough. Then when Willy is ready for release, hit them with a higher speed demo. >>>>>>

By this I assume you mean matching Intels Willy reputedly at 1.5 ghz, not Intels current 1 ghz. And that is what I would want if it is available.
