i don't believe he's manipulating the election...he's reacting to the ECRI FIG, which has a proven lead over the funds rate. if he were not acting now, he would be forced to raise rates to destructive levels at a later stage. unfortunately the credit and asset bubbles are so extended and fragile that it is highly questionable how much scope the Fed actually has w.r.t. rate hikes. the FOMC is feeding liquidity through the back door anyway...
