What you say is true. There are always samples of future production runs available ahead of real production. Prototype parts are rushed through for development and evaluations purposes. If they are bad the go in trashcan. You do not make more than you need for evaluation.

I am would be surprized if AMD did not have in Dresden some parts that work at 1.5 or even 1.7 Ghz. They would always have these samples 12 weeks ahead of any real production.

The production parts they have coming out of the fab now were put into fab around March 1. If they just got some fully working 1.5 Ghz engineering samples and commited to production two weeks ago, they will ship them after Aug 15.
